Here are some recipes to prepare for your favorite pet friend they will so appreciate.

September Harvest Bird Seed Recipe

  • 2 cups of dried, chopped apples (dried apples will not get moldy as fast)
  • 2 cups of raisins
  • 2 cups of chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts or any nuts you have available)
  • 1 cup of chopped prunes
  • 1 cup of dried melon or squash seedsSimply mix the ingredients together in a large bowl or bucket. Start by adding small amounts to your feeder and store the rest in a paper bag in a cool and dry location. Now your homemade bird seed recipe is ready to serve.

Hamster Dream Dinner

1/2 cup peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)
1/4 cup of oats
1/4 cup of sunflower seeds

Mix ingredients together and serve to your pet hamster.

Su-Purr Salmon Pate Cat Treat Recipe

1 (6 ounce) can boneless, skinless salmon

1/4 cup bread crumbs

1/2 cup finely chopped celery 

1/2 cup water

1 egg, beaten

1 envelope unflavored gelatin

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.

Combine all ingredients and mix well. Pack into a small fish-shaped mold (or other small mold) and bake for 45 minutes.

Serve at room temperature.

Savory Cheese Kitty Treats

  • 3/4 cup white flour
  • 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 5 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt or sour cream
  • 1/4 cup cornmealPreheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Combine cheeses and yogurt. Add flour and cornmeal. If needed, add a small amount of water to create a nice dough. Knead dough into a ball and roll to 1/4 inch. Cut into one inch sized pieces and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake for 25 minutes. Makes 2 dozen.
  • Peanut Butter Goodness Dog Treats

    1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
    1 1/2 cups white flour
    1/2 cup peanut butter (all-natural or organic)
    1 cup water
    2 tablespoons oil

    Preheat the oven to 350 F. Combine oil, peanut butter and water. Add flour, one cup at a time, forming a dough. Knead dough into firm ball and roll to 1/4 inch thickness.

    Cut into 3 to 4 inch pieces. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 F for 20 minutes. Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.

    Prep time is about 20 minutes on these dog treats. And you’ll feel rewarded when your dog thups his tail in appreciation! Dogs do love peanut butter!

    Apple Cinnamon Bones

    Apple Cinnamon Dog Treats
    1 c. Natural Applesauce(or chopped apple)
    1 tsp. Cinnamon
    1 Tbl. Parsley
    1 c. Cold water
    1/2 c. Veg. Oil
    5 c. Flour
    1/2 c. Powdered milk
    2 large Eggs

    Preheat the oven 350 degrees.
    Combine all of the ingredients — add oil or water if dough needed. Roll out dough to desired thickness and cut into fun bone shapes using cookie cutters.

    Bake 20 -25 minutes until browned.
